Next week, organizations on the Basic tier and higher can choose to show country flags in the Users list and Messages, to show where users are chatting from — great for chatrooms with an international community.

To respect user’s privacy:

  1. Flags are only available in organization chatrooms

  2. Owners must manually enable this in the Chat Settings — it will not be enabled by default, if the owner does not want to publicize this information

If there is a large enough demand for this for non-organizations, I’ll bring this to the Messages view for non-organizations chats, if they have View IP enabled. This is because View IP requires the user to give consent to their personal information being viewed by non-Minnit Staff before they send a message.
