Blocking users

In the menu we can add friend to our list which is nice cuz we can find them no matter which chat they’re on.

Conversely it would be very useful to be able to block certain persons and no longer see them and/or prevent them from contacting us in private… much like how it works on FB…

I know you can restrict DMs to your friends only, but then you are limiting yourself…

Blocking—previously referred to as “ignore”—is a feature we offer, and it works as you’ve described. Both Visitors and Regulars have the ability to select another user and block them, which will prevent that user’s messages from appearing in their chat view.

For Moderators and users with higher privileges, the functionality is slightly different. The option to block a user does not appear in the main chat interface for these roles; it is only available within Direct Messaging. This distinction is intentional, as Moderators and above are expected to maintain oversight of the chatroom.

Even if a Moderator or higher-level user chooses to block someone, the blocked user’s messages will still be visible to them in the main chat. This ensures that Moderators can continue to effectively monitor all activity and uphold community guidelines, even when personal blocks are in place.
